In a brand-deceitful world I have matrimonial trust issues when it pertains to the marriage of my skin and a reliable, natural skin care product. I have been a victim of the painstaking treachery of getting a promising, “all natural” solution only to have it slowly disappoint me. It’s truly devastating. What is the catch for skin care brands that overestimate their product’s capabilities, mimicking the same sweet nothings as your all-too-nice ex? I don’t know. But a girl waking up with dessert dry and dull skin is not a force to be reckoned with. My thought process when distinguishing a phony from a hidden gem product is merciless and frank. It’s nothing personal, but like a blind-date gone wrong, it’s on to the next one. But then this happened…I discovered Eben.
When I heard about Eben Naturals, and their zero-toxic, vegan and all-natural ingredients that not only caters to every skin type, but is an exceptional fit for darker skin tones as well – I was mildly skeptical. It had hit every nail on the head of what I, as a black, multi-cultured female was looking for in a moisturizing product but, it was just a tall glass to fill. As genuine as the endorsement came across, breaking the barriers of a girl who has been pitched with one too many fairy tales is a tough break that wouldn’t be mitigated without results. But, it did sound very promising and reading the entirety of the product labels, there was nothing that could possibly go too wrong. I later found out, that everything was right.
I had chosen the Eben Naturals body lotion to bring back to the test lab (my bathroom) and after two weeks of consistent application, I can now say I’m in love with a body lotion for the first time ever.
I’ve been plagued with dry skin my whole life, and my grandmother surely hasn’t let me forget it. I threw in the towel and just accepted it a long time ago but she would always preach the holy testimony about how important it is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. I can speak for every girl that slimy residue of lotion’s past wasn’t too encouraging to change that. But this lotion has challenged that stigma.
Let’s start from the genesis. When I first opened the bottle, I got a whiff of the essential oils. If you didn’t know already, essential oils directly translate to skin elixir in the scientific realm. The beauty benefits are indisputable and should gain accolades for all their righteousness.
Fact check time:
- Lavender oil has powerful antioxidants that slows aging.
- Jojoba oil has a deep moisturizing properties that replenishes skin & keeps it hydrated.
- Green Tea has uncountable nutrients & antibacterial properties that would break my word doc count, seriously.
- Cucumber- reduces puffy eyes, tighten pores and fades dark circles.
- Citrus- speeds up cell turnover, and again, moisturizes skin.
All of the above were active ingredients in Eben’s body lotion! Things were looking up, but it got better. I applied a moderate amount of lotion on the most parched area of my body, my feet, and I was pleasantly surprised. It instantly absorbed in my skin but left it richly moisturized. I know, unfathomable, but like Brad Pitt’s perfectly symmetrical face; things can go right sometimes. Since then, I haven’t hesitated to use it to cover all the surface area of my skin and it’s been two weeks of a happy union.
I’ve finally found a product that is true to its word and leaves my money and comfort to co-exist.
Now what? I’m probably going to hold it, worship it-consider buying bulk. Because this one’s a winner that’ll possibly sell out pretty fast. Happy skin didn’t come at a cheap price with all my bad experiences but here it is in the mecca.
See you never, dry skin!
